Hi! I’m James Reed, the owner and operator of First Choice DJs, the premier mobile DJ and MC service for functions and private events across Perth, Mandurah, and Southwest WA.

With over 20 years of full-time DJ experience, I am proud to be one of Australia’s most seasoned and professional mobile DJs.

While I specialise in weddings, I also bring the fun to a variety of events, including birthday parties, engagements, anniversaries, school formals and discos, sporting club windups, corporate functions, and end-of-year celebrations.

My journey into the world of DJing began when I was just 14 years old, living on the outskirts of Sydney. I was fortunate to learn the craft early and quickly became a local legend among my peers, regularly DJing at community events, festivals, and youth discos.

By the time I turned 20, I had already transitioned to a full-time DJ career, shortly after graduating top of the class from the prestigious United DJs Mixing School.

Driven by a passion to excel as both a DJ and MC, I earned an Advanced Diploma in Sound Production, studied Music Business, and worked as a professional stage actor across Australia, New Zealand, South-east Asia and the USA.

I’ve always had a natural affinity for music. Beyond my work as a DJ, I’ve played guitar in bands, learned the drums, written and produced my own original songs, and currently operate a professional music studio in between gigs.
